FAQ Guide / 1. Getting started

What device database sync means?

Dazzboard creates metadata database from your device media and after db creation you can manage your devices much faster. If you use dazzboard to your media tranfers, your device database is always up to date.

When you first time connect your device you get following dialog. If you wan't to use your device in dazzboard you need to click 'Prepare device' when asked. If you don't want to use device in dazzboard click 'cancel', you can always prepare your device later on.

After clicking 'Prepare device' you get following state, now dazzboard is scanning files which then are processed, in this phase UI may act little bit slower.

After files are scanned from device dazzboard starts process metadata from found files. During metadata read process you can browse your devices media, but all files may not show up until processing is complete. Note: Browsing media during metadata processing is not preferred.

If your browser crashes or you disconnect your device while sync process is ongoing you have possibility to continue previous sync process when reconnecting your device. (Note: This may damage database in some cases and all your media may not show up. To solve this kind of problem you need to rebuild device database.)
